Perennial Ratings favourite, Malcolm Marx picks up yet another MVP award from Joe Rater, while fullback Andries Coetzee takes heat for the Bok high-ball hiccups against Wales.
The All Out Rugby Player Ratings allow fans to vent (or high five) a little on Sunday and Monday mornings by rating the Bok players and coach out of 10. Every user Rating then contributes to the official All Out Rugby Player Ratings – which close at midnight on a Monday.
Marx gained 72 metres from 9 carries, and made 2 offloads and 7 tackles, 2 of which were dominant – it speaks to a strong individual performance, but it was the hooker’s 4 turnovers that no doubt had Joe Rater in a mouse-clicking frenzy as the Boks went down 24-22 to Wales in Cardiff on Saturday.
With 7.3 out of 10, Marx edges loosehead prop Steven Kitshoff (7.2) and blindside flanker Pieter-Steph du Toit (7) to this week’s MVP award.
At the wrong end of the Ratings scale, Coetzee finds himself taking heat for the truly inept handling of the high ball by the Bok back three. Throw in the two handling errors, 4 missed tackles for a 20% success-rate, and 2 turnovers conceded and you get to a Rating of just 3.9 out of 10 which sees the Bok fullback “beat” Ross Cronje (4.3) to the Moegoe of the Week award.
With a Rating of 5.1 out of 10, flank Oupa Mohoje is the man deemed to have made the biggest impact off the bench, while coach Allister Coetzee again gets flayed by Joe Rater, picking up a miserable 2.3.
You can also have a little fun by comparing the various Ratings using the drop down menu. Have a look at how the boys rated the players in comparison with girls, or perhaps compare the Stormers fans Ratings to those of the Lions fans.
This week, the ladies have Wilco Louw and Du Toit as their MVPs on 7.2 out of 10, and Ross Cronje and Warrick Gelant as their Moegoes on 5.3 out of 10.
