Marx picks up MVP, behind ref!

Bok hooker Malcolm Marx picks up this week’s Bok MVP in the All Out Rugby Ratings, but has to play second fiddle to Welsh referee Nigel Owens, who tops out in the Ratings.

The All Out Rugby Player Ratings allows fans to vent (or high five) a little on Sunday and Monday mornings by rating the Bok players and coach out of ten. Every user Rating then contributes to the official All Out Rugby Player Ratings – which close at midnight on a Monday.

New kids on the block (well, in the Allister Coetzee era that is) Francois Venter and Duane Vermeulen (on ratings of 6.5 out of 10) were deemed second-best in the Boks’ one-point win against France, but it was perennial top dog, Marx, who enjoyed the most love from Joe Rater. His rating of 7.2 nets the official MVP of the week.

Telling it’s own story, though, is the fact that the man in the middle picked up the highest Rating of the day. Perhaps in sheer relief, given his neutrality and competence (sadly, not always the case these days), or perhaps reflecting the general standard of play from both sides, Owens nets a match-topping Rating of 7.3 out of 10.

Unlike Bok coach Allister Coetzee, who via a Rating of just 2.6, nets the match-low Rating of the week.

Between the white lines, Beast Mtawarira and Jesse Kriel, on Ratings of 4.8, were rated second-worst in Green and Gold, but it is the man who missed a tragic 4 pots at goal, flyhalf Handre Pollard, who picks up the official Moegoe of the week via a Rating of 4.6 out of 10.

You can also have a little fun by comparing the various Ratings using the drop-down menu. Have a look at how the boys rated the players in comparison with girls, or perhaps compare the Stormers fans Ratings to those of the Lions fans.

This week, the boys and girls agree on Marx as the MVP, but the ladies have Beast as their Moegoe, while the manne remain pretty bitter at Pollard’s kick success rate!

AOR Player Ratings (Springboks vs France, Paris, November 18):

MVP: Malcolm Marx (7.2)

Moegoe: Handre Pollard (4.6)
