New skippers for Cheetahs and Kings

A week out from their 21-45 reverse in PE, the Kings see skipper Michael Willemse return to the side, while Oupa Mohoje captains the Cheetahs in their PRO14 re-match.

The return of Willemse at hooker was the most noteworthy change made to the Kings starting XV by coach Deon Davids when he named his team to take on the Cheetahs in their fixture in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

Now fully recovered from a long-term groin injury, Willemse replaces Stephan Coetzee in the No 2 jersey and also reclaims the captain’s armband from Schalk Ferreira who deputised ably during his absence.

In the only other change amongst the forwards, Andisa Ntsila returns at No 6 flank in place of Eital Bredenkamp who moves to the bench.

The backline shows a number of changes to the one that did duty against the same opponents during the home fixture in Nelson Mandela Bay last weekend.

Martin Du Toit moves from centre to flyhalf, while Luzuko Vulindlu takes over from Du Toit in the No 12 jersey. Harlon Klaasen gets his first start of the season with Berton Klaasen moving to the bench. Yaw Penxe switches from fullback to left wing in place of Anthony Volmink, who tweaked a hamstring weekend and also missed a few days training due to illness this week.

Cheetahs coach Rory Duncan has also made a few changes. Flank Oupa Mohoje takes over the captaincy from Torsten van Jaarsveld who is sidelined with a minor injury, with Jacques du Toit starting at hooker in place of Van Jaarsveld.

Henco Venter also starts in the loose trio, replacing Paul Schoeman in the No 6 jersey.

On the bench, hooker Joseph Dweba and flyhalf/centre Clinton Swart will make their PRO14 debuts if called upon.

Regular captain Francois Venter is still sidelined with a neck injury which sees Nico Lee retain his place at outside centre.

Saturday’s match is at the Free State Stadium, kickoff is at 17h00.
