“A tournament that is too predictable, or too unpredictable isn’t interesting. Super Rugby used to hover around the 60-percent mark,” says Wood. “That’s the sweet spot.
“This year, Super Rugby is at 76 percent predictability. The real problem-slash-opportunity for Super Rugby is Kiwi dominance. The Kiwi-versus-non-Kiwi games this year are 91 percent predictable. Two years ago that was 63 percent.”
