Raters crown Kings

The announcement of this week’s Stats XV was drowned out by All Out Rugby’s Player Raters cheering for the heroes of the Kings’ big win in Pretoria.

Only three South African teams were in action in Round 16 – the Bulls, Kings and Stormers – and that made it all the more surprising when none of the players responsible for the Kings’ first victory at Loftus Versfeld were drafted into the Stats XV.

Instead, Bulls stalwarts RG Snyman and Jan Serfontein were called up to join the Stormers triumvirate of Dillyn Leyds, Seabelo Senatla and Damian Willemse.

Stormers backs blitz Stats XV

There was a hint that the Raters weren’t quite seeing it the same way as the Stats XV selectors when this week’s MVP was  unveiled – Kings flyhalf Lionel Cronje led the way with a 7.6 grade.

Turns out, that was just the tip of the iceberg – the Rating community got clicking in a big way for the soon-to-be-relegated Kings.

Snyman (5.0) and Serfontein (5.6) were yanked off the bus – replaced by Lubabalo Mtyanda (6.6) and Luzuko Vulindlu (6.4) – and Leyds (5.2), Senatla (5.0) and Willemse (5.3) also had to give up their seats to Malcolm Jaer (6.8), Makazole Mapimpi (6.7) and Cronje.

Time to make your opinion count! Join the Raters’ ranks and grade the players after each match!
