Raters roast Rudy for Ruan’s revival

The Lions sneaked Ruan Combrinck into the run-on team at the last minute, and the Raters held Bulls scrumhalf Rudy Paige chiefly responsible after the fit-again Springbok flyer scored two tries.

The All Out Rugby player ratings allow fans to vent (or high five) a little on Sunday and Monday mornings by rating the SA players out of ten. Every user rating then contributes to the official All Out Rugby Player Ratings – which close at midnight on a Monday – for the round.

The Raters chose their MVPs and Moegoe of the Week from the Jukskei Derby, which the Lions won 51-14 by scoring seven tries to two against the Bulls. Combrinck and flanker Kwagga Smith shared the MVP award with a 7.9 grade, but the Lions’ success came at the Bulls’ expense. None more so than Paige who copped a 2.3 Rating and the Moegoe award!

Lizo Gqoboka was the Bulls’ highest-rated player with a feeble 3.7 – compare that to Jacques van Rooyen, the Lions’ lowest-rated player, who logged a 6.5!

The gap was even bigger between the coaching booths as Lions mentor Johan Ackermann scored a healthy 7.8 while Bulls front man Nollis Marais came in with a 2.0.

The Kings’ numbers were more subdued this week after a 19-10 loss to the Brumbies, and the Stormers didn’t do much better even though they bounced back to beat the Blues 30-22 at Newlands.

Lionel Cronje held onto the Kings MVP trophy, though his Round 12 grade of 7.8 dropped to 5.5 this week. And SP Marais was the top Stormer with a 5.9, while Kiwi import Shaun Treeby could only muster a 4.2 from Joe Rater.

Treeby should have been red-carded for a high tackle and, after a very shaky performance, referee Jaco van Heerden took it in the neck from the Raters who put him down for a 4.2 and the title of the worst-rated ref of Round 13.

You can also have a little fun by comparing the various ratings using the drop down menu. Have a look at how the Sharks fans rated their heroes, in comparison to Lions fans, after the win against the Sunwolves in Singapore, or perhaps compare the girls and boys ratings!
