Raters rub salt into Kwagga’s wound

Not content to let Lions flank Kwagga Smith nurse his post red card wound in private, Joe Rater has instead rubbed further salt into it by rating him the Moegoe of the week.

Smith was shown red for making contact with David Havili in the air two minutes before half time in his side’s eight point loss to the Crusaders at Ellis Park on Saturday, and has since been banned for 4 weeks for the indiscretion.

Dark times for the hard grafting, fleet of foot loose forward who has been so good for both the Lions and Blitzboks this year. Now made even darker by the game low rating of 2.9 out of 10.

The All Out Rugby player ratings allow fans to vent (or high five) a little on Sunday and Monday mornings by rating the SA players out of ten. Every user rating then contributes to the official All Out Rugby Player Ratings – which close at midnight on a Monday – for the round.

With a rating of only 5, skipper on the day, and loose forward partner to Smith, Jaco Kriel picks up the MVP of the final. And in his final match in charge of “Jozi’s Pride”, there was no fairytale ending for coach Johan Ackermann, instead it’s off to Gloucester via a below average rating of just 4.6.

Interestingly, despite being the man to issue a red card to the home side, referee Jaco Peyper emerges with the highest rating of all – A more than respectable 5.2 out of 10. Top effort raters, that’s classy.

You can also have a little fun by comparing the various ratings using the drop down menu. Have a look at how the Sharks fans rated the players in comparison with Lions fans, or perhaps compare the girls and boys ratings!

Which is exactly what we did … Both the boys and girls agree on Kriel as the MVP and Smith as the Moegoe, with the fairer sex just being a little more kind.
