Readers marvel at Marx

With nominations based on the All Out Rugby Ratings, we asked readers to vote for the Bok MVP and Moegoe of 2017, and you have spoken!

Standout performances for the Springboks in 2017 saw Malcolm Marx, Siya Kolisi, Jaco Kriel, Jan Serfontein and Francois Venter crowned the MVP at least once this season by our Raters.

Via a landslide victory, Lions hooker Marx – who really did have a stellar season – picks up the All Out Rugby MVP of the season with over 95% of the votes!

It comes as no surprise given that the bullocking hooker picked up Joe Rater’s MVP in 7 of the Boks’ 13 Tests, with a season-high of 9.5 out of 10 in the Newlands Test against the All Blacks.

It was a less memorable year for Ruan Dreyer, Raymond Rhule, Damian de Allende, Andries Coetzee and Uz Cassiem who, based on the poor Ratings detailed below, were shortlisted for the ignoble Moegoe of the Year award.

In a more tightly contested race – one that saw each of the five players receiving at least one vote – Stormers centre De Allende edges the defensively frail Rhule to the All Out Rugby Moegoe of the Year gong.

De Allende picked up his nomination via a miserable rating of just 0.8 out of 10 for his performance against Ireland in Dublin in the first Test of the end-of-year tour.

To all the voters, well done for making your voice heard! All voters (via both Twitter and comments on the site) have been entered into the draw for the prize of the LG K10 smartphone. The winner will be announced on Twitter later today.
