Ten overseas-based South Africans hoisted European club rugby’s most prestigious trophies as the Champions and Challenge Cup winners were crowned.
Saracens defended their European Champions Cup title when they beat Clermont 28-17 at Murrayfield on Saturday. The England champions were reinforced with Saffer stock in the form of Brad Barritt, Michael Rhodes, Vincent Koch, Schalk Brits, Petrus du Plessis and Schalk Burger.
And, at the same venue on Friday night, Springbok veteran Morne Steyn was called off the bench to kick Stade Francais to a 25-17 victory against Gloucester in the European Challenge Cup final.
Steyn was joined in the matchday squad by former Bulls No 8 Jonno Ross, and Test teammates Willem Alberts and Heinke van der Merwe.
