Congratulations on making it to the weekend! The good news doesn’t stop there – here’s a wrap of all things good in rugby this week:
- Allister Coetzee got the defence coach he’s been waiting for as Brendan Venter was appointed on Sunday, and the Springbok coach was delighted with the improvement shown by his extended training squad at a three-day camp in Stellenbosch this week.
- Springbok hooker Bongi Mbonambi will earn his 50th Super Rugby cap when the unbeaten Stormers face the 5-0 Chiefs at Newlands on Saturday.
- Cecil Afrika will run out in his 50th tournament when the Blitzboks, the World Rugby Sevens Series leaders, speed onto the Hong Kong National Stadium on Friday in search of their first Cup title in the circuit’s renowned Asian tournament.
- It’s early days, but Curwin Bosch has seized with both hands the opportunity presented by Sharks flyhalf Pat Lambie’s injury-absence. Bosch’s marvelous kicking game was on display in a commanding performance against the Lions last Saturday.
