Whiteley out for a month

The Lions have confirmed that captain Warren Whiteley will be sidelined for four weeks with a grade-two posterior cruciate ligament injury.

The 30-year-old sustained the injury in the Lions' 38-35 defeat to the Blues at Ellis Park on Saturday and will miss the upcoming clashes against the Sunwolves, Jaguares, Crusaders and Stormers.

The Johannesburg outfit will still be wondering how they contrived to throw it away having raced in to a commanding 21-3 lead.

Murphy Taramai's injury-time winner stole it at the death for the Blues, with the Lions seemingly on course for the victory leading 35-31.
